I was second generation Navy. I went to school to learn to be an Aviation Ordnanceman. I learned about Bombs Rockets Missiles and Guns. Above is a picture of me while stationed on the USS Enterprise CVA(N)-65 . I was the dammage control petty officer for GM Division (thats guided missiles) As part of my tour on the Enterprise we helped evacuate Viet Nam,, Operation Frequent Wind. From the Enterprise I was transferred to VA-82 at NAS Cecil Field, Florida I was an armorer for LTV A-7E Corsair II's. While in VA-82 we won the McClusky Award for the BEST Light Attack Squadron in the Navy. We also won the Battle Effeciency E: twice. While attached to VA-82. Cmdr. Tom Mercer was our skipper. He was good too!
I am a Plank Owner in the United States Navy Memorial. Please check out the Memorial online and go see it when you are in Washington DC. Go to the Navy Log and enter my name and see my page in the Memorial. If you are part of the Navy family or know of someone who is or was, Please let them know so we can get them signed up so their sacrifice to the Country we love will be seen by everyone who journeys within.
