Starseeker Golden Retrievers was established in 1984 in the midlands of South Carolina. When I got my first Golden Retriever, Andy, Red's Amorous Andy CDX JH WC CGC. I knew nothing about responsible, ethical breeders. As I began to learn about this wonderful breed, I soon realized that the only way to go was to establish a breeding program using only the highest of ethics and responsibility.
Today I breed a litter only occasionally. Since our breed has several areas of health concerns, the dam and sire of all my litters will have clearances in these areas. All have their hips evaluated through OFA, eyes though CERF and/or a board certified ophthalmologist, and hearts cleared by a board certified cardiologist.
Just as I am concerned about only producing sound, healthy, and quality Golden Retrievers, I am equally as concerned that my puppies are placed in only the best of homes. Homes that will take a serious commitment to this dog for its complete life. My most basic requirements are a traditionally fenced in yard, the dog MUST be a house dog, and a member of the family. My contract also requires spay/neuter and a limited registration for all pets. I also require at least one basic obedience class be taken.
I train and compete in conformation, obedience, field and am beginning agility. My dogs and dogs from my breeding have conformation, obedience, field, and agility titles.

Although most of my puppies are sold as pets, many have gone on to earn titles in several forms of the dog fancy competition.
My philosophy is that I have put these puppies on this earth, therefore I am responsible for their welfare for their entire lives. This means that I am always available to any of the owners of my pups for guidance and assistance. This also means that if there is ever a crisis in the home and they can no longer keep the pup, the dog, at any age, must be returned to me.
I also am the founder and run the Midlands Golden Rescue. I will do everything within my power to see that no puppy out of my lines ends up in rescue.
